Best Thermostat Settings

Best A/C Settings For Seasonal Residents

Best A/C Settings For Manual Thermostats

FP&L recommends the best AC settings on your system is 80 degrees for detached homes and townhouses and 77 degrees for condos and apartments. These measures control the relative humidity (RH) in your vacant home by providing dehumidification to help prevent mold growth.

For Programmable Thermostats

A programmable thermostat is a more energy-efficient and effective option. FP&L recommends programming thermostats at 72 degrees for just two hours each morning before sunrise and at 88 degrees the rest of the time. This will help prevent mold by removing moisture from the air during the cooler hours, when relative humidity (RH) is highest and your A/C runs most efficiently.

Energy efficiency tips

  • Always set the A/C fan switch to the “auto” mode.
  • Ceiling fans are not necessary since your A/C already circulates the air.

Mold Prevention

The most energy-efficient option to help prevent mold from developing in vacant homes is to use stand-alone dehumidifiers instead of the air conditioner.

Poor Air Quality - UV Light Air Purification

Benefits of UV Air Purification

What Is The Importance of UV Light Air Purification Products?

With over 90% of people’s time spent indoors and little or no ventilation, concentrations of microorganisms, mold and dust will increase causing a poor air quality that is being breathed in continuously. With a larger number of death cases being caused by various bacteria and molds, controlling the growth and spread of pathogens is a major concern in indoor environments. According to indoor air quality experts, controlling airborne microorganisms is the next major challenge of the Air Conditioning Industry. The use of UV Light Air Purification can help control this problem, keeping your indoor air quality at it’s best resulting in a healthier lifestyle.

Why Use a UV Light Air Purifier In Your Home or Business?

The two primary benefits to using UV light air purification are disinfecting air and preventing growth of mold. The UV light radiates a surface to keep mold from growing in that area and disinfects the air stream as it passes through the A/C unit. In one pass over the UV bulb, a high disinfection rate is not normally accomplished in the air stream. With repeated circulation of air through the system, a major disinfection rate is achieved, making use of UV light very efficient.

Does Using UV Light Help People With Allergies or Asthma Problems?

Absolutely! By reducing airborne contamination, good air quality can offer relief to many allergy and asthma sufferers. The device is not solely for people with respiratory disorders. Your whole household or business can benefit from breathing good quality air.

AC Annual Maintenance Service

Why A/C Annual Maintenance?

AC Annual Maintenance Recommendations

Regular AC Annual Maintenance is recommended to keep your air conditioner at it’s optimal performance. Florida residents and business owners use their A/C almost twelve months out of the year. In that period of time; dirt, debris, insects, animals and many other things can accumulate in your A/C unit and eventually can cause over heating, connection issues and other problems that could in turn cause serious problems with your air conditioning units performance or operation.

Some of the most obvious benefits include:

Lower Energy Bills

Have you noticed your electric bills lately? Over a period of time a neglected A/C system slowly loses its ability to keep your home comfortable at the same level of efficiency it once did. It’s the same way with your car when you have a tune-up and keep your tires at the right pressure, your air conditioning system uses less energy after having professional maintenance service.

Fewer A/C Repairs

Do you hear unusual sounds coming from the unit or notice an odd odor coming from your air ducts? Calling for a tune-up right away could help catch problems before they become disastrous. For example, lack of lubrication or debris in the unit can cause strange operating noises. If a technician replaces or cleans it in time, you can avoid the expensive repair that results from the unit having to work harder than normal. Regular service will help by preventing future repairs, and will actually pay for itself.

Minimized Chance of a Major AC Breakdown

No one wants to have A/C problems, especially in the heat of the season. After all, it’s incredibly uncomfortable when equipment breaks down on a sweltering summer afternoon, right when you need your HVAC system most. Having annual A/C service and maintenance done will greatly diminish the chances of this happening when you need it most.

Longer Life of Your AC Unit

Air conditioners function best when they’re regularly serviced and cleaned. One malfunctioning part can cause a domino effect that causes the entire system to break down making your expenses for repair more painful than necessary. Regular maintenance prevents this from happening and adds years of extended life to your air conditioning unit.
